I am honoured to work with and learn from both the military and first responder communities. Since 2012, I have worked closely with military members and their families to better understand how mental health treatment can be more culturally-sensitive and effective. In 2018, I became involved in a global research initiative to better understand emergency first responders' mental health needs. Collectively, my research has taught me about the unique context of both military and first responder professions. I integrate what I have learned from my research with military personnel, veterans, and first responders into my clinical practice. Therapeutically, my priority is to explore how each individual member has experienced their professional context and unpack the unique impact of these experiences. Through this process, we come to a better understanding of how past experiences affect current emotional, physical, and social wellbeing.
While my overarching treatment framework is strengths-based and client-centered, I am also trained in several evidence-based therapeutic models, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). I will work with you to determine the most appropriate treatment approach for your particular concerns.
